Chester and Bowater Mersey to benefit from provincial renewable energy program
CHESTER - The new province-approved wind dynamism project for the Chester Municipality was officially launched on February 7 at the Kaizer Mead Environment Management Centre.The announcement, which was originally approved back in December, included a B round of projects for the
Community Feed-In Tariff (COMFIT) program.
Forcefulness Minister Charlie Parker was on hand to announce that applications from the Halifax Regional Drench Commission, Town of New Glasgow, Celtic Current and Bowater Mersey were approved to proceed to the next step of development.
For Chester District Warden Allen Webber the notice marks the muncipality's entry into the wind energy business.
"The Exurb of [the District of] Chester had been pursuing opportunities to develop a wind dynamism project for a number of years with no clear path disrespectful," he said. "The COMFIT program provided the clarity and guarantee to develop this project. The minister and government deserve the return of all Nova Scotians for this significant initiative in moving us towards energy safe keeping and environmental stability. This project will benefit our community by strengthening our pecuniary and environmental sustainability. Sustainable prosperity is a challenge for any community."
