Review of the A2B Metro electric bicycle
05.07.10
This procession of the A2B Metro bicycle is the first part of three articles making a head-cranium comparison of two high end electric bicycles. The A2B bicycle has been on the trade in for a couple years and established a reputation for ruggedness. The big beefy tires, the oversized schema, the suspension, the unique shape, all speak of ruggedness. Additionally with a important 500 watt electric motor it has the potential for climbing serious hills. The patchwork would tend to make it suitable for off-road riding but the name, Metro, speaks of municipality use. The ruggedness can handle pothole filled roads as well as gravel paved hiking trails. This bike does not disenchant.
Riding the A2B is very simple, turn on the drive system and start pedaling and inconsistency the throttle when you want to go faster. Acceleration is hot and the top speed is very good. There is no speedometer but it felt like the rated 20 miles/hr. The A2B has only a throttle to device power unlike some other electric bicycles that detect when the rider pedals and automatically adds help. Ultra Motor also sells the A2B Hybrid with a less beefy disposition which has a pedal assist system rather than a throttle.

Product Description
Bicycles are a terrific manner of transportation, but sometimes you just need a little extra push while getting around township. Enter the eZip Trailz men's electric comfort bike, which is equipped with a 450-watt DC world magnet motor and a 24-volt rechargeable battery. Far cleaner than gas-powered scooters but zippier than a ancestral bike, the Trailz will get you from point A to B in no time at all, but won't guzzle gas or belch pollutants in the process. The battery offers a line of 15 to 22 miles per charge, so you can make it back and forth to the grocery outlet several times without running low on power. And once you're on the road, the Trailz boasts a top speed of 15 miles per hour (contingent on the rider persuasiveness)--plenty fast enough for most bike-friendly city streets. Is your work commute too far to steal but close enough that a car seems wasteful? Turn to the Trailz, which comes with a rear rack to pinch groceries and other gear.

gloomy
A pocket-sized plastic part broke with the 4th ride sending me to the ground, breaking my cell phone causing me to be overdue for work and unable to call in. skinned my knee so bad it became infected sending me to the doctors for antibiotics...all costing me a ton of liquid assets. Not that the company can resolve all of that, but when calling them to ask if they could just send the tiny plastic part, they acted as if I was mendaciousness, and told me I would have to send the whole bike back and pay shipping. The worst was the attitude they had that I was trying to pull a stable one on them. Wouldn't do business with them again.

Talented value for your money
I purchased two of the Currie bikes in May. One for me, and the other for my mate. Since then, we have enjoyed biking all over the Long Beach, CA area. We resolved to use cars as diminutive as possible, and the Currie bikes were a means to realize this goal. Our complaints have been picayune: We needed to true a front wheel on one bike because of problems in shipping. Also needed to replace a incompetent battery charger. We immediately upgraded to more comfortable seats, installed bells to on guard pedestrians, etc. We tend only to use the motor to supplement pedaling;hence, we have never exhausted the battery, and have again taken 20 + mile treks.
Recently, however, we have discovered another option: The [...] bikes. These are front pivot-driven. We purchased two kits for our bikes in Edmonton, AB. The motors + batteries are significantly lighter than Currie. Inclusive, our bikes equipped with cleanrepublic are quicker. The throttle system is more simple. It took me a perfect of 30 minutes to install the kit and be on the road--faster than unpacking and building the Currie. The payment of the kits are comparable to Currie, i.e., $250-425; however, you first need a bike to upgrade. I truly like both systems, but if I had to select between them, I'd take Cleanrepublic. Check it out.

Currie EZip Trailz Bike
After global Web research, I purchased this bike. Although part of the reason was the relatively low cost, part was also to get a more effective work out. I am 61 yo, weighed 190lb and last half way up the Grand Mesa in CO. I have a heart condition and my doctor recommended unexcessive exercise (not strenuous) and I love bike riding, but everything from my house is either up hill and ride down or down hill and outing up-no flat places. I have had the bike for almost a month and ride almost every day. The hills are steep and going up first, the battery registers half imbue after just over a mile. By 3 and half miles it registers empty. I can still coax another 3 miles out of it before it starts sputtering. I bought an again battery and can get almost 9 miles up the hill. Coming down is exhillerating with an 80 lb bike (weight with 2 batteries) (max boost 48 mph!). The thing is, you have to pedal in assist mode or the motor won't go. The d is a good work out without being too strenuous. I passed some bikers going up hill on their way bikes (I was doing 10 mph) and appologized for cheating. I have also tried it on relatively lacking perspective ground and can get about 20 miles on one battery. I have moved (rewired) the switch to the front so I can by far turn it on for up hill and off for down. I rarely take the bike out of high gear. The average speed on the bike is 15 mph compared to my predictable 10 mph on my road bike. I have never used the bike in only motor mode, but it is everything I had hoped for. I would recommed it to someone in my circumstances.

I like the bike, BUT
On June 23 2010 I bought the bike for $398.54 with open-handed shipping. Now on July 7 2010 I see the bike is $499 PLUS $160 for shipping now that Aim is fulfilling the orders. There is no way in my opinion this bike is worth $660!!!!!! Again, I like it and am happy I bought it for $400 but there are some problems I have. 1)One spoke on each hoop was broken on arrival, 2)The wrench and allen key tool where not included as promised (I was aware unpacking and checked for tools/parts 5 times) 3)I get no juice at all - not even a power elucidate when the battery is in the left hand bay. On the right side it works fine. I just discovered this, trade Currie in the morning...
I haven't tested max distance yet, but the battery did last for 6 miles of tenement riding then got me up a 400 foot elevation monster hill then another 1 mile and still had vigour when I got home.

Turtle-dove It!
I bought this bike for commuting to my part about a mile away. I live in Houston so for half the year if you're pedaling, even on the vapid, you are seriously sweating when you arrive, which is ok if you're not going to work, meetings, etc. This gets me there near and as a bonus I get a 15 mph breeze to keep me cool. Perfect machine for commuting in metropolis. In fact, it's so much fun to ride, I look for excuses to use it.
I've used the bike for about five trips now and it seems very solidly built and well constructed. As others have esteemed, it is heavy, esp. with the battery on board. One day I left the battery locked in the bike and forgot to change-over off the battery switch at the back of the battery rack--YOU MUST DO THIS OR THE BATTERY WILL CONTINUE TO DRAIN WHILE YOU ARE AWAY, which they don't stress enough in the user's manual. I had to pedal home but I was surprised by how easy it was to pedal this bike (literal, where I live is flat; uphill with the bike weight might be a different story). My only complaint was that when it arrived it had a licked spoke on one of the wheels--happened in shipping no doubt, since the wheel is nested next to the pedals. Fortunately I was skilful to switch out the wheel with one on my old mountain bike, then get it fixed and switch it back in. Other than that, no complaints.
Overall, as others have illustrious, this is an amazing deal for a well built, nicely designed bike--400 dollars and free shipping on Amazon. When you consider the cost of alternatives (mopeds, vespas, and even due more expensive bikes) it's a no brainer for buzzing around town.

Common on 2 years and still loving my bike....but got a flat on rear
I bought this bike in 08 and have been every so propitious with it. But got a flat on rear tire last week. My hubby and I tried to convert it, but he was too intimidated by having to remove all the motor work. There is no good directions on youtube or anything, and it will rate $30 just to change flat tire.
Also, beware. I was so happy tooling around with my e-zip that when I had to divert back to my regular trek hybrid, for my 8 mile ride to work, I was very out of shape.
Inclusive, still love my bike, but wish there was more do it yourself instructions for flats.

Sharp bike
I purchased this bike recently for my helpmate. It shipped the day after purchased, and arrived in good condition 3 days later. I was gratified that it was so gentle to put together; it took only 35 minutes. One problem was that the charger was broken. I called Currie's aid line; they were pleasant, and promised, since the part was under warranty to ship a replacement. I was dismayed, however, that they charged $10 for shipping, even though the at shipped charger was broken. This is why their bike only earned 4 starts.
I have another Currie bike and used that charger for the new one. The bike is very nicely constructed and cosmetically looks significant. It is heavy because of the motor and battery. The only unsatisfactory feature is the seat; it is cheap looking and uncomfortable. I will be replacing it. (Please note that the bike was shipped to our secondly home in California. Regrettably, Amazon does not ship to Canada.)

i aint no lady but it works for me!
I bought this bike because i am getting to be a parsimonious jurassic (70 yr old) man, but wanted a "step thru" frame. At this age i just cant swing that old leg up like the girlish ones and dont mind the snickers about it being a lady's bike! Hey bring me my pink unsound bottle!! lol
So.. the shipper (UPS) did a real bang up job..and i mean bang up! The box was ripped, the erect scratched, busted some styrofoam and generally musta had a gorilla throw it around before irrevocably leaving in on my front porch. Ezip does pack it well though and they are smart enough to include some drink up paint.
I was immediately impressed with the welds, the finish, and overall quality of the bike..astounding for the price. Assembly was no too bad, and all parts were there except one front hub nut (this maybe be lost due to the shipping?) The front brake was out of aright but i used to rear brake as a model. All instructions were easy to read, however like so many products these days, the lawyers must be have written the first five pages of everthing because of all the WARNINGS! Irritate a helmet! Dont ride at night!
Tell your mother where you are going! (ok not that one) Dont rag in sandals or barefoot!
Oh my goodness, did i buy a bicycle or a death trap?
The battery is being charged tonight and i will take it out for a swim tomorrow, and I look forward to passing those spandex bicycle "gangs" active uphill , puff puff... "come on boys!"
So far, so good and i will add a rethink on how it runs a little later, but for now i can recommend this Ezip machine, a heck of a conduct oneself treat for the money (god bless the chinese) . If we could just export our love of action we could eleminate our trade deficit!!
oh ya, it says i am in bangkok, thailand but i am now in the mountains of colorado..
Pike's Uttermost here me and lady Ezip come!! (she hasnt got a name yet).
Oh one last thing... i am 6'2" and 200 lbs, so the bike is a picayune small for me, but for the price i can get small.... if i like riding electric bikes (i notion of i will), maybe some big manly bike is next!!! but I'm keepin the water bottle!

Well built bicycle
I bought this bicycle hoping to be skilled to ride a bike again, since it had the "step through" frame. However, it's still very high off the ground (I'm an older lady). The erect was scratched when I got it because it wasn't packed well. It was, however, very easy to put together except for adjusting the front brakes. The instructions weren't very unclouded and I finally had to have someone else do it. It's a very heavy bike! Would probably be a better choice for a young person.
